Get a free Grillstock ticket if you invite your mates

Get stuck into two days of meat, drink and music – and get paid for it. The Bristol-based meat fest, Grillstock Festival returns to Bristol’s harbourside on the 2-3 July, bringing with it a gluttonous celebration of barbecue culture in the UK.

Festival organisers have this year introduced a get-in-for-free scheme, ‘Bring the Mayhem’. Basically, get your mates to buy a ticket and Grillstock will pay you back in cash money. The scheme offers three levels of cashback; get three friends to buy tickets and you get 10% back, five friends will nab you 30%, and ten friends (if you have that many) will see you get 100% back.

If you’ve already bought a ticket, you should have already received a personalised referral link from Grillstock that you can start sharing around. If you’re yet to buy a ticket you’ll receive it with your confirmation email.

Co-founder, Ben Merrington explains, “It won’t be long until the smell of juicy meat cooking on smokin’ coals fills Bristol’s harbourside and we’ll all be kicking back with mates, chowing down and having a blast”, an image that jogs memories of summers gone-by and time well spent.

One of our highlights will no doubt be watching the chilli eating contest – I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets a perverse kick from watching people struggle with a ghost pepper on YouTube.

Also returning this year is King of the Grill – a massive 30-team BBQ competition, overseen by US firepit master, the aptly-named Dr BBQ and his team of judges. The judging panel will be working flat out to taste what the teams can cook up over the smoky coals (the tenacious of you should hang around for free samples) in this US style low ’n’ slow battle.

And we haven’t even spoken about the music yet. Headlined by The Fratellis and The Stranglers on Saturday and Sunday respectively, Grillstock is not going to disappoint. However, it’s Bristol regulars The Nextmen and The Mouse Outfit we’re most looking forward to. Dr Syntax, Sparkz and the rest of The Mouse Outfit crew always impress us with their sultry summer vibes, jazzy beats and swift MCing. Keep an eye out for DJ Cheeba too – the Bristol native mixes video and obscure YouTube footage with some fairly incredible music and audio to create something very special.

£45 will buy you a weekend ticket, day tickets and VIP ticket options are also available. For more info and the full line-up, head over to the Grillstock website.
