DJ Jamz Supernova is fast becoming the authority on future RnB, with coveted slots at clubnights and festivals around the globe. While she continues to climb the ranks as one of the UK’s sought-after DJs, Find Me in the Field asked Jamz to create a 5-Minute Mini Mix for us…
For many, the mention of RnB evokes a wave of noughties nostalgia as pure and pungent as the recent #SaveNelly campaign, but as with every genre, as lowrider jeans hide in the attic and hair dyes fade, a new tastemaker is needed to push typecast music into new territory and bring it back up to date. Enter Jamz Supernova…
The 25–year-old from South East London has more than paid her dues in the music industry, holding down a residency at London’s Reprezent radio station while still at college. Since then she’s developed a unique sound, drawing on the sounds of alternative RnB, but with a healthy dose of trap, bass, and house.
Jamz now hosts her own show on Radio 1xtra every Tuesday night and curates the popular Future Bounce nights, which act as a platform for fresh producers across the electronic board.
She’s also massively in demand on the live scene with her more bass-orientated sets, with the likes of Lion Babe, Little Simz and Toddla T all inviting her to warm up for them.
If that’s not enough to convince you she’s worth missing that extra pre-party gin for, the caliber of lineups she’s been selected for in 2016 speaks volumes about the future potential of this rising ‘supernova’, so to speak…
We don’t want to call her the Gilles Peterson of RnB (yet), but we’re definitely keeping an eye on this one.
Listen to her 5-Minute Mini Mix for Find Me in the Field Magazine for a small taste of what you can expect to hear from Jamz playing out live…
